C2. Executive Reasoning Tests
(Aimed at Senior Management Level.)
This test battery, taking around 2 hours to complete, is aimed at Senior Management Level and provides a Candidate's Personality Type Indicator which measures Management Style, a detailed and accurate measure of Verbal Critical Reasoning and Numerical Critical Reasoning tests. In addition, a full Personality Profile plus Values and Motives Profile is provided.
Specifically designed for management assessment, the passages and tables, which form the basis of these critical reasoning tests, have been designed to reflect current, real world issues, thus avoiding the artificiality of some test formats. Consisting of tasks that are much closer to typical management functions than most traditional reasoning test items, this test is ideal for selecting and developing high calibre management and technical staff.
1. Personality Type Indicator
Developed as a modern alternative to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, this instrument assesses personality within the framework of Jung's type theory of personality. In addition to classifying a person's type this test provides scores for each of the type dimensions, offering a more detailed description of the candidate's personality than is provided by most type indicators.
What the 'Jung' Type Indicator Measures
The Jung Type Indicator assesses a person's psychological type using the categories first proposed by the Swiss Psychologist C G Jung. These are (E1) Extroversion vs Introversion, (TF) Thinking vs Feeling and (SN) Sensing vs Intuiting. An additional scale, (JP) Judging-Perceiving reflects whether the respondent adopts a judging attitude (thinking or feeling) or a perceptive attitude (sensing or intuition) towards the world. Measuring a person's thinking style and the way they deal with information and how they will interact in a group setting, makes this indicator particularly useful as a predictor of behaviour for those in management positions
This is also a useful tool for team development, management progression and career development.
2. High-Level Critical Reasoning Ability Assessment
Verbal Critical Reasoning
This test directly assesses the ability to understand semi-technical reports and accurately draw logical conclusions and inferences from such written information. Consequently, it forms a key assessment device for all managerial and professional jobs that require quick and reliable interpretation of written reports and appropriate decision making.
Numerical Critical Reasoning
This test directly measures the ability to understand and critically evaluate a wide range of numerical information presented in tabular form, and accurately use this information in a logical way. Consequently, it forms a key assessment device for all managerial and technical positions, which require a detailed understanding of financial, numerical and statistical data.
3. Personality Profile Questionnaire
To measure a Candidates personality we use the '15FQ' questionnaire - a modern alternative to the 16PF. Specifically, this questionnaire measures the fifteen personality dimensions assessed by Cattell's original 16PF, with the exception of Factor B (intelligence) due to the difficulty in assessing mental ability using an un-timed test. This factor has been replaced with a more robust measure assessing an individual's level of confidence.
The 15FQ also measures personality factors more reliably using up-to-date and occupationally sensitive items. Whilst having all the advantages of 16PF it avoids the problems of low reliability and face-validity associated with many of the 16PF scales.
Comprehensive Report
This Personality Profile includes a report on:
- Interpersonal Style
- Thinking Style
- Coping Style
- Team Role Behaviour & Preferences
- Leadership Style and Fit
- Subordinate Style and Fit
- Career (Occupational) Orientation
- Strengths and Development Areas
- Validity Measures
- Potential Strengths
- Potential Development Areas
4. Values & Motives Questionnaire
This is a normative self-report questionnaire which profiles the motivating forces that are likely to determine the amount of energy or effort that an individual is likely to expend in particular activities. When used as part of an assessment battery for selection, development, guidance and team-building it can assist in directing individuals into areas where they are likely to gain most satisfaction and make the greatest contribution.
What the Values and Motives Questionnaire Measures
The scales have been selected not only for their relevance to the workplace, but on the basis of a thorough review of those values which have been identified in previous research as being important determinants of behaviour in the work setting.
The questionnaire covers three broad areas: Personal, Interpersonal and Extrinsic. Personal values are those which could guide an individual's decisions in respect of everyday problems; Interpersonal values are those which influence an individual's approach to relationships; and Extrinsic motives are factors which effect behaviour in the workplace.
Cost: $595 + GST per Candidate tested.
